Here's what to expect when you work with me...
I’m a low-maintenance remote writer. We won’t be meeting face to face, which saves you time and money while still achieving your desired results.
How I charge
I typically charge by the project so you know exactly how much you're in for before we get started. I can often get you an estimate the same day you ask for one. All fees quoted include two rounds of revision unless you say otherwise. If the scope of your project should change significantly during our work together, I will provide you with an updated bid before proceeding. I can offer you my lowest rates if you’re interested in regular partnership, such as weekly blogging or a year-long marketing plan.
How I work
Once you approve the estimate and we discuss the scope of the project I start doing my homework. I research and investigate your target market and industry, audience pain points, benefits and potential drawbacks of the product, and anything else I can get my hands on. The big idea is to learn as much as I can that will help me speak to your audience in meaningful ways. Part of this process includes the Compass Writing Discovery Questionnaire that will help us get to the heart of the matter.
Armed with sufficient source material, I create a first draft and send it your way for review. I include two rounds of revision in my initial bid, so it won’t cost you anything extra to provide feedback and ask for changes. (If you need more than the two rounds, I’ll give you an idea of cost before proceeding.)
Once you approve the copy, I send you the bill.
I prefer payment by check. I also accept credit cards via PayPal, no account needed. (PayPal payments are subject to a 3% processing fee in addition to your balance.) You’d make me smile if I received payment within 30 days of invoicing. If you need other arrangements, let’s discuss.
Nuts and bolts
I reserve the right to require 1/2 of the total project fee up front as a deposit from new clients and for jobs over $2000. I offer rush services at an additional fee of 25% of the total project cost for jobs with deadlines of 48 hours or less. If the project is killed for any reason after completion of the copywriting, I am entitled to full payment of the agreed-upon fee. If the project is killed during the copywriting stage, I am entitled to full payment of all time invested up to that point. If more than 90 days have elapsed since the project's start date, I will bill you for all time invested up to that point (unless prior arrangements have been made).
Professionalism, reliability, and a fun, positive working experience are all included at no extra cost.

It's always, always about what's in it for YOU
As a marketer and copywriter I've helped companies large and small gain brand exposure, promote products, grab attention, and increase sales. My ultimate goal is to reach your target audience with benefits-driven content that moves them to act…and, of course, boosts your bottom line. I pride myself on professionalism, expertise, and my ability to meet your deadlines (yes, even the crazy ones).
I have nearly a decade of copywriting experience and two English degrees to boot. If you'd like to see details on my stuffy formal credentials, jet on over to my LinkedIn page. (Be sure to scroll down if we're not a connection yet.)
What lights my fire
Some parents take their kids to Disney World. Mine took me to London when I was 11 years old. That first trip sparked a wanderlust spanning two decades and six continents. Ten years ago, my husband bought me a whitewater kayak (that's me in the thumbnail below on the right). My adventures near and far fuel my creativity and inspire my work as a writer, marketer, and all-around creative professional. What lights your fire?
"Andrea is an exceptional, highly skilled professional and delivers significant value. I have had the pleasure of working with her on a high-impact project and she has consistently made all things better."
--Gerald Dennis, Northeast STEM
"Andrea is my marketing consultant and copywriter. She helped me launch my business by developing my brochure, web content, and trade show collateral. Really she created the voice of my company. I don't know how I could have gotten started
-- Bruce Matters, Coastal Caretakers
"When it comes to direct mail, Andrea’s my go-to person for effective letters in a genuine, conversational tone and concise offers that can’t be refused. Her professionalism and quick turnaround time are invaluable. I gave her an idea and she took it and ran. She was able to take the information I wanted my clients to know and phrase it in a way that made it matter to them."
